Today's subject really hit home with me so I wanted to share it with you. It's called "The Pain of Becoming" and basically discusses how we can judge and be hard on ourselves as we take each step towards reaching a goal. In today's world especially, it's allllll about instant gratification. We want and tell ourselves we need to get there NOW. As a result, we can be unfairly harsh or judgmental as we take our normal, human steps to get there.
I can say for sure that I have been guilty of this many times in the past. MANY. Did I say many? I guess that's why I felt so compelled to write about it today after reading it. We should appreciate each step of the metaphorical ladder we are on and know that we are stepping just as we should be. If everything came to us as fast as we wanted it to, wouldn't it take the fun and appreciation out of getting it?
I've put an excerpt of today's page from the book up here so you can see it directly from Mark Nepo himself. Let me know what you think, I'd love to hear your comments!
Talk to you soon!

ReplyDeleteLooks like a good book. Life is certainly a journey. I'm a middle aged woman and when I look back at my life it is amazing the individual journeys. Relationships and jobs will come and go. What a journey life is. Your goal ever moving and changing. Remember to be thankful for where ever you are in this journey we call life. And be kind to yourself!!!
